Response to Chris Mooney on the Speed of Light

My reply to: Chris Mooney on The Speed of Light and Cosmos

I love these Cosmos episodes, and maybe I'm a cynic, but I don't believe people (in general) care about facts and logical arguments. Speed of light? God just created all the light already here. Solved. One out of the popularized 20 questions asked by creationist post Nye-Ham debate suggested that the 10,000 year old tree was created old, and I'm sure the similar reasoning would be applied here. The show is great because not only is it presenting some facts, but it's showing people that science is not some authority figure one must blindly follow; it's a story about many people that were actually looking for answers outside of any authority - they were looking to the stars. What people really care about is people: I bet watching Bruno getting burned alive for having a simple belief  that wasn't harming anyone was more effective at getting people to wonder than any logical argument about the speed of light.
