Soylent - Day 1
I recently subscribed to Soylent. I have had about half the pitcher today, so I guess that's 1000 calories worth of Soylent. I like the taste of it. I only wish I had ordered more than the 7 bags worth which is supposed to provide 28 meals. I am disappointed that the pitcher does not contain any measurement marks on it to make keeping track of my consumption easier.

Extraterrestial (2014 film)
I liked it. The movie probably got some help from the fact that I didn't expect a good movie given the title and Netflix being the only place I ever heard of it; however, I must say I was pleased with the whole experience overall.
Talk about Google's New Inbox
They are trying to get people to stop deleting their emails because that's actually a waste of time.

Really? Why is it a waste of time? I delete mine because I want the important stuff at the top. I should actually use folders to organize but I don't. I have them set up, but I don't really use them

You'll have to show me later

How do they know what I consider important?
That's awesome sweetie
well, you can pin things now, and they also guess by ratio between you actually opening the email or replying to the email

Hmm. Interesting. Email is turning into pintrest.

I don't know if that's a good thing.

Speaking of emails, I got an email that my protonmail is ready. Supposed to be the best email you can use for security purposes

Fear of God says Judge Dan Williams?
I was just reading the BBC article about the "black magic couple", Albert Hickman and Carolee Hickman, that was sentenced for raping an 11 year old in 1982. I guess the Judge had a few words for them after everything was said and done:
Seriously? That is the most screwed up thing to say whether you believe a god exists or not.
"You were a couple united by a deep-seated and overwhelming abuse of children," he said.
"You groomed her and gained her trust, you told her you had supernatural powers and that she was the 'chosen one' and you put the fear of God into her.
"It was a specific targeting of a vulnerable victim and threats were made which petrified her."
Seriously? That is the most screwed up thing to say whether you believe a god exists or not.

The importance of community and ritual
This is mostly Christian stuff, but starting at minute 13, he talks about the importance of church and music. I think one interpretation is the importance or community and ritual. This is interesting to me because I am trying to understand why atheists may be more prone to depression, and through everything I have read, the evidence points to lack of community and group exercise or ritual.
